A Guide to Peel Season

A Guide to Peel Season

A Guide to Peel Season

What is Peel Season?

Peel season refers to the time of year when the lower UV index makes it ideal to safely perform chemical and microneedling peels on clients with less environmental risk. However, for compliant clients, peels can be performed during all seasons.

When is Peel Season?

Peel season typically begins in the fall and lasts through the spring due to the increased time spent indoors and decreased sun exposure.

Who is the Ideal Client for Peels?

The ideal client is someone who is compliant and willing to commit to a recommended home care regimen, follow pre and post-peel instructions, invest in pre and post-peel care, and undergo a series of treatments to address skin concerns.

Make sure clients sign peel waivers. This is important that clients understand the importance of following your instructions and what to expect for the peel. This also give you permission to perform these services and takes away some of the risk to your business that may be associated with any reactions.

Importance of Photography:

Photographing your client's skin at the beginning of the peel series is crucial for documenting progression and showing the client how their skin has improved. Before and after photos are also great for your business portfolio. If using client photos in marketing, be sure to obtain a signed release.

Importance of Proper Home Care:

Preparing the skin prior to peels is crucial for achieving desired results. A customized home care regimen should be developed during the initial consultation and started 4 weeks prior to the peel series. This should include products that gradually lower the skin's pH, reduce the risk of hypo and hyperpigmentation, and protect the skin barrier.

Recommended Tyrosinase Inhibitors for Peel Season:

- Ascorbic Acid

- Ferulic Acid

- Mandelic Acid

- Licorice Root Extract

- Resveratrol

- Kojic Acid

- Arbutin

- Tranexamic Acid

- Azelaic Acid

- Flavonoids

Importance of After Care:

After care is essential for the best outcome. Clients should receive instructions at the end of the first peel, including when to exercise, apply SPF, use home care, reintroduce products, and shave (for men). Advise clients to not pick at the skin and allow shedding to occur naturally. Note that most peels offered by Pure Pro Aesthetics will not cause visible shedding due to the inclusion of peptides and hydrators. Make sure clients understand what to expect from the peels you are giving.

Follow-up with Clients:

Follow up with clients in the days after the peel to check on their skin, answer questions, ensure they are following instructions, and request follow-up photos.

End the Series with a Hydrating Facial and Infusion:

Offer a hydrating facial with infusion at the end of the peel series (we include this in our series pricing). This facial is designed to feed the skin cells with personalized ingredients for maximum hydration, leaving the skin with a lasting glass skin glow.
